got hold of the other Eurasian, Christie, and a young Portuguese named Sousa. These three waited that evening at the Hajestic
Cinema, Kowloon, and there, about 9 o'clock, accused came along and the party then adjourned to a Chinese Restaurant, the Yee Fong Chan, where a further person was brought into the matter, a man who will not be called before you, a man nicknamed
"Tau Pei Shing". (pock-marked Shing).

Pung had done him in taking his girl from hin and again stressed the fact in the hearing of all of them that though she
had lived under his protection for so long she was still a virgin. A plot was then evolved that they should go over to the Nathan Hotel, by some retexf they should induce Fung to come out of his room and the others hold him while the accused
smacked his face, the idea being that by smacking the face of the de ces ged, the accused could save his own. This plan they proceeded to carry into effect, but owing to Pung's refusal to leave the room they failed.

the Nathan Hotel he made a definite offer to Christie of
$10,000 if he would slay Fung. Christie will say that he had no idea of doing any such thing but that he appeared to fall in with the suggestion and himself suggested the use of poison. The accused however persisted in preference for a gun. Finally the party, with the exception of Sous who appears to have been left behind to keep an eye on Fung's comings and goings, left the llotel and, after some food in a Chinese tea house,
proceeded to the Star Ferry on foot. On the way accused
renewed his offer of 10,000 to ill Fung telling Christie further he need not be afraid in that he (accused) had a private
